If you have been a smoker longer than you have been a non-smoker, you probably tried to stop smoking at one time or another. But how did you first happen or start to smoke? Were you hanging out with a special friend and just wanted to see what it was like? Did you have the desire to be a little defiant to your parents? Or were you trying to unknowingly imitate your parents? Were you trying to impress or be friends with someone special? And did you have to work at it the first few times you smoked? Maybe you remember the reason, maybe you don't. But very quickly in a day or so, you became a smoker.
And probably over the years you told yourself a few lies as to why you smoke. Maybe you said it made you look older and mature, sophisticated, feminine/masculine, or even sexy. Sometime later you heard from others that it was hard to stop, but you said to yourself, "I can stop anytime I want". Then one day you tried and started saying the same thing, too.
Eventually you started planning the day you were going to really stop smoking. You were going to do it no matter what. You had the willpower to finally do it, or so you thought. You congratulate yourself for getting through that first day, then the first week, then a month, two months and maybe you hit the one year mark or even more. You thought you were doing great. Even though the cigarettes were always nagging you to come back, you thought you had it under control. Until..
Something happened. It could have been almost anything, but I would bet it was something stressful. Your life was shaken, you faced a tremendous difficulty, you might have even thought your life was falling apart, so you grabbed for your crutch, the cigarette. You don't even know why, but you did. You wanted something that would make you feel good immediately, and your mind was tricked by the comfort of something that was familiar to you, the feeling you associated with your first few cigarettes. Again, you may not even remember those reasons you smoked, but as humans, we look for comfort wherever we can get it. It's not right or wrong, it's just the way our minds work.
But you can do something about it. You can become a non-smoker and not let stress weaken your resolve. At the Willard Hypnosis Center we have discovered that stress is the number one reason why people go back to smoking. And if you do not recognize this and have the proper resources to do something about it, you will probably smoke again. We know that if a person is committed to being a non-smoker that person can be taught how to deal effectively with stress when it hits. Those moments when stress tricks you into letting your guard down can be overcome with simple techniques that we have included in our Single Session Stop Smoking program.
The techniques we teach are powerful and effective and become even more so with practice. As part of our program we incorporate these techniques as part of the session and have the client practice them for three minutes once a day for at least two weeks following the session. Amazingly, our clients discover the same techniques can be used to help overcome other problems in their lives.
But now it is up to you to decide if you want to become a non-smoker. Are you ready to free yourself from the chains of cigarettes and smoking? Are your ready to start feeling good again? Are you ready to put all that money you waste on smoking back into your pockets? Are you ready to stop smoking for good? Then call us at the Willard Hypnosis Center at 717-872-7561 and make it happen. Make the commitment now and start enjoying breathing again. Call now. We are located in historic Conestoga, PA and hours are by appointment only to give you the attention you deserve.
